praise & pray for Gurgun _______ _____ ______ & friends (Punjab & Gujarat - IND)

- met Gurgun _______ _____ ______ [had a really long name, Gurgun for short!] @ train station last night .. amazing what a simple smile can do :) got talking, he's a Sikh from Punjab state of India .. in the course of conversation his other Indian friends (from Gujarat state of India) rocked up. I felt inadequate to share the gospel with a Sikh, but in reflection I remember Paul Washer's words
"i don't preach the gospel to muslims or jews or hindus, i simply preach the gospel to lost men as sinners who need a Saviour"
how true! ultimately this is the reality.

so WHY do i forget it in the silliness of of my own "perceived" inadequacies?!
anyway Gurgun got caught up in his Indian buddies .. train was delayed so Gurgun went to the nearest bus stop .. i was left at the train platform with a few of his friends wondering if we should follow him, thinking the train's been delayed 3 or 4 times already so might as well give it a shot. dumb move!
it was raining with gusty winds .. an adventure ;)
got to the nearest bus stop to discover we'd missed the last bus :P
.... walking back to the train station saw the train leave as we were coming up to the platform. D'OH!!
... or not ?? with another 30 minutes until the next train (it was 10pm!) = MORE TIME TO SHARE THE GOSPEL!
these Gujarati guys were studying nursing so i told them of the great respect for nurses i had due to my 4 months i hospital. :)
why was i in hospital? what happened??
showed them photos i carry with me everywhere of me lookin' really messed up & how Jesus Certainly saved me from near-death :)
they seemed almost too accepting ...
[silly stereotype i have of people from India burning people who try to share the gospel with them, memories of Graham Staines & his two sons being burnt to death stay needlessly in the forefront of my thinking about precious soul from this state! to read the story: www.wogim.org/stains.htm)

time flew, the train came & got to share a little more with them about the gospel. one of them mentioned he had Christian friends back home in India who brought him to church a few times! he assured me there were many Christians in India!

How human it is for us to be concerned primarily with our own salvation. Our own welfare is a natural concern. But it is wrong to stop there. We must be concerned for the spiritual safety and security of others also. Remember God's challenge to Ezekiel: "If you warn them and they do not listen, that is their responsibility. If you do not warn them and they perish, I will hold you responsible" (Ezekiel 33:8-9, paraphrase). That is a great challenge to us as we think of those who still have not heard the gospel!

Our Father, we want to be faithful to share Christ with the unreached peoples. But all too often we are afraid of rejection and scorn. If we do not love Him, we will love something less. Whatever it is that we love in place of God becomes god (an idol) to us. How can we maintain our love and devotion to God? According to Jesus Himself, it is by obeying His commands! One of these commands, often ignored, is to disciple the nations. As we are caught up in this great task, we are less likely to be tempted by things that could become idols to us.

- sat next to on bus. was initially very hesitant to initiate a gospel conversation with him as my overall experience [trying to] share the gospel with Aussies (using wdjd see: www.livingwaters.com/wdjd.shtml) is that they're often quite unreceptive to the gospel & unreasonably relativistic .... felt soo tempted to just give up on trying to share the gospel with aussies as there are riper harvest fields elsewhere & all 'round.
felt it would be a cop-out & taking the 'easy way out' if i just sat next to him & read my book 'aptly titled ' having a mind to suffer' by Watchman Nee . however, Papa brought to mind this verse:

he took it in amusement, read it .. i prayed for him.
he tried to hand it back saying
"that's one way of looking at things" which then developed into a conversation skirting 'round issues of religion/power/corruption/man's innate goodness/sinfulness, . . . inevitably the bus trip came to an end, once again lost for words at how blinded by satan some people are.
Ben needs much prayer! truly but for the grace of God, I would be just as much, if not more blinded by deception!

:D ultimately, Jesus wins over the enemy!!

Is Peter possibly referring to Jesus' statement that "this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations" before the end will come (Matthew 24:14)? If so, then consider the glorious possibility: by committing our lives to bringing the gospel to those people groups still without a believing fellowship in their midst, we are helping to speed the return of Jesus Christ.

For example, we know that God is concerned for the salvation of people from every nation (people group) in the world, but we need to be reminded of this priority each day. That is the purpose of the Frontier Fellowship. Many need to pray for the unreached peoples of the world. Do you encourage your friends to pray with you for these peoples?

Do we see ourselves as "aliens and strangers" in the world today, or do we find, as another author observed, that "this world is too much with us"? "Earthly-mindedness" is a serious spiritual malady. An excellent antidote is to continually resubmit our lives to God's eternal purpose to bring people from every nation to share in the marriage supper of the Lamb. Earthly attractions will have less allure for us when we are consumed by God's own purposes and desires.

Prayer is an essential part of God's plan to accomplish His will on earth. We cannot always understand just why and how prayer works. But Scripture assures us that prayer is necessary both to us and to the accomplishment of God's work in the world. Powerful, effective prayer has a goal (the revealed will of God) and a promise (the assurance of God). When we pray in God's will according to God's promises, then our prayer is powerful and effective. We must remember that part of God's will is that we "make disciples of all nations." He has promised to be with us to the end of the age as we pursue this objective.

pray gainst ugly favoritism!

James 2:9

"But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers"

Favoritism is an ugly word and an uglier practice. Do we who know Christ as Lord find ourselves in a position similar to that of Israel in Old Testament times? Knowing they were God's favored people, they seemed also to believe they were God's favorite people. For that reason, they felt little or no responsibility to share the blessings of Yahweh with other nations. If we share the gospel of Jesus Christ with our friends and neighbors only, we practice the most serious kind of favoritism-withholding the knowledge of God from those who have never heard.

In the Ozark Mountains there's a familiar riddle which asks the question, "What makes more noise than a pig stuck under the fence?" The answer, of course, is, "Two pigs stuck under the fence." Maybe we could use a similar question to ask, "What brings more glory to God than believers who worship and praise His Name?" The answer, "More believers who praise His Name." God must take special delight as men and women and boys and girls from previously unreached peoples add their voices to the chorus of praise.

:D we finished CE! [he was so happy he wanted to shout me tea ... something i was against, I should've refused more strongly [i.e. save money to give it away to bless others with a chance to hear the gospel!! the tea he shouted me could've bought 500+ gospel tracts among those yet to hear the gospel in their own language!] *sigh* . . . but gave into his happiness :|]

- met for lunch, prayed for opportunity to share Jesus with him that the time spent might IMPACT ETERNITY!... after lunch I helped him buy a ticket to Gatton, in the process of which he brought up a question about being born again. YAY JESUS!!

* provide accommodation for him in a non-Korean speaking house .. [he's here to learn English.. currently staying in a sharehouse full of Koreans!]
* provide a job for him that'll draw Dan closer to Jesus!

:D there's help for the tired, weary, weak & exhausted when we put our trust in God for help!
:D getting to share about my "tragedy" [not in my eyes but in the worlds'] to His glory! ...
but i made a bungle of it when i didn't focus enough on God :(

* what the enemy has meant for evil God will keep using for good tht many might be saved!
