pray for the unreached!

"Therefore I want you to know that God’s salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen." Acts 28:28
In a way, this is a sad ending to the book of Acts. Paul was closing the door to his witness to the Jews because they had so often rejected God’s appeal through him. He wanted them to realize that their hardness of heart was the main reason for his focus on the Gentiles. But in another sense, this is a happy ending. It says that the Gentiles will listen, and, indeed they did! The book of Acts ends as it begins, with God’s concern that the Church should proclaim His salvation to all the nations. From there, we get church history, starting with Acts 29. What part of Acts 29 is your church playing?

Pray that our churches will respond to the Holy Spirit’s promptings to go to the frontiers.

"In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent." Acts 17:30
Repentance is the key to salvation. In this statement, Paul gave the Athenians the gospel in a nutshell. If you do any witnessing, you may be shocked by how many people from the reached West don’t understand that it’s not “being a good person” but repenting from sin that is the key. In most Hindu, Buddhist and Muslim cultures, people believe that salvation rests on having their good deeds outweighing their bad ones. But repentance is an ongoing process. Even the most godly among us sin every day. Do you need to repent from letting the Great Commission slip from your life?

Pray for the Holy Spirit to lead us to repentance whenever we stray from His perfect will.

"From now on I will go to the Gentiles." Acts 18:6
Paul was in Corinth preaching in the synagogue and “solemnly testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah.” They resisted him and blasphemed. He was then free to go to the Gentiles with a clear conscience. Paul’s example holds lessons for us. He was intent on focusing on those who were responsive to the good news. His obligation to the Jews did not blind him to their resistance. His cry, and the cry of many today is, “How can I stay among a people who have every chance to hear the gospel, yet reject it, when so many have not yet had one chance to hear?”

Pray that the Holy Spirit will teach us our duty to both the resistant and the responsive peoples of our day.
