One of the things we so often forget is that before there is glory, there is often suffering. We know that, like Christ, many of His servants are suffering in places like North Korea and Saudi Arabia for their faith. In many cases throughout Church history, the suffering of the saints has led to repentance and the extension of His Kingdom. You have heard it said that the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church. So difficult, but so true in our fallen world!
Pray that the unreached will be reached through the suffering of the saints, and that God will be glorified
"No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for him-the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough..." Psalms 49:7-8
Did you see the movie, "The Passion of the Christ"? If you did, you may remember the scene in the Garden of Gethsemane where Satan is trying to tempt Jesus into bypassing the cross. He tells Jesus that it is impossible for man to pay for the life of another. So true, but so false in this case! Jesus is the only son of the Living God, so He alone can pay for the sins of the world. Muslims try to achieve salvation by obeying the words of Mohammed, while Buddhists and Hindus seek to obey their way to a better reincarnation. But only Christ can pay for their sins. No sin is forgiven, except by the blood of Christ.
Pray for the Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists to seek out and find to their only redeemer!
"Jesus said, 'It is finished.' With that, He bowed His head and gave up His spirit." John 19:30
What is finished? You might ask. Because of the fall of Adam and Eve, Satan claimed authority over the peoples of the earth. With Jesus' sacrifice of Himself, He entered into a horrid struggle to reclaim His own, what was His by right of creation. Jesus won the victory over the evil one. The war over Satan's claim to those peoples still in darkness is finished, and Christ is the victor. Satan's claim is finished for eternity! All he can do now is deceive the nations into taking a path that leads them away from the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
Pray that God's children will quickly tell them the good news of Christ's redemption. Praise God for redeeming those who call on His Name! It is finished!
"He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season." Psalms 1:3
God's child, meditating on God's Word, yields fruit according to His timing. "Whatever he does prospers." Jesus told His disciples in the intimacy of the upper room, "You did not choose Me, but I chose you to go and bear fruit -fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in My Name" (John 15:16). "Fruit" refers both to inner character and holiness-the fruit of the Spirit-and to the life that reproduces itself in others. Jesus calls us to bear fruit in a hurting world.
Pray that the Lord will work out the fruit of His Spirit in our lives, and use us to bring many others to the obedience of faith.
"For the sake of Your Name, O Lord, forgive my iniquity, though it is great." Psalms 25:11
All of us sin each day, and we need forgiveness. Our sins are an offense to the One who created us, the only One with the power to forgive. This is one of the ways His Name is glorified; by forgiving sinful man. There are entire tribes, tongues and nations that don't yet know that God will forgive their sins if they humble themselves and call on His Name in repentance. Don't stop praying for these peoples who are cut off from their chance to accept forgiveness, and glorify His Name.
Pray that the nations will be stirred to crave His forgiveness, so that His Name may be glorified.
