pray for us & the unreached!!

"His Name will be called Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Is. 9:6
With just one week before Christmas, we pause to reflect upon the birth of our Savior. How can a child born in a manger express the nature of God's rule? In this baby we can see the personal, reconciling work of God the Father. That which is "everlasting" has stepped into time and history. That which is beyond humanity has personally proclaimed the love of the "Father" for the whole world. The "peace" which eludes the grasp of warring empires can now be established by the presence of this "Prince." This little baby proclaims in His very person the plan and purpose of a missionary God.

Thank the Father for bringing peace to our own hearts and relationships. Pray that He will honor His Name as we in turn serve as ministers of reconciliation among the nations.

"He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him." John 1:10
What sad words! Those He loved did not welcome him who loved mankind so much. Today how easy it is to say, "The unreached peoples do not want us. Let's go to someone who does." It is also easy to become critical and discouraged when missionaries who are trying to show that they love the unreached peoples are not welcomed with open arms. Yet our missionary God did not wait for us to desire Him. He came incarnate in Jesus to reveal His love in a way we could understand, in a way that wooed us to Himself.

Pray that the Lord will plant in our hearts His love for lost peoples.

"The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world." John 1:9
Here John applies Old Testament prophecy to Jesus. In Isaiah 42:6 we read, "I will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles." Isaiah 60:1-2 declares, "Arise, shine, for your light has come.... darkness shall cover the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples; but the Lord will rise upon you.... the nations shall come to your light." The incarnation of Jesus was a burst of light that continues to radiate to the nations today.

Pray that we will stand on the truth of these prophecies for the sake of those peoples who still live in deep spiritual darkness.
