- i used to think of this as me being unpopular & an unattractive "teacher" but i realise now it's really an answer to prayer - Father knows i can't handle big groups anyway!!


*PRAY*

* reveal Christ to them as INFINITELY desirable & INFINITELY satisfying, bringing them to True Repentance & Faith before it's too late!

* convict them of their sin & turn them into "fishers of men"!

* we'd see these dear lost souls in heaven, loving Jesus much because they received The Good News, along with others who're there because they didn't keep The Good News to themselves!!

Wow! yesterday (24/1) was the 9th anniversary of my blessed brain injury!! How incredible to reflect on the awesome faithfulness of Abba Yahweh who has been with me, every nanosecond of every second of every minute of every hour of every day of every week of every year !!!!


Dear praying friends, this BLOG is POSTED on my dads’ net book because my computer decided to self-destruct last night! :P


.. after what seems to have been a whirlwind few weeks of January, having been blessed to go to 2 chunky camps – I think I’m still reeling from the challenging, convicting messages – Father has been doing some painfully necessary soul-surgery in me! Just ask me if you want more details :)






So I’d deeply treasure your prayers for grace to hold onto Him as He carries me through this refining process!

Jonah was a reluctant missionary, loathe to go to Nineveh and even less willing to reveal God’s compassion for a city deep in ignorance and spiritual darkness. His previous success as a prophet, national prejudice, and preoccupation with personal comfort combined to choke out any love for a people unlike his own. Jonah had more concern for a vine than he did for lost people. But is there not a little bit of Jonah in each one of us? Don’t the successes of home ministry, our natural prejudices, comforts, and conveniences beckon for our attention?

Pray that the Father will cause us to think and act in ways that reveal His compassion for the world’s great cities, home to millions of individuals in thousands of unreached people groups.

There is significant overlap between the unreached people groups without a church in their midst and the hungry half of the world without adequate physical and material resources. Isaiah reminds us that the people of God are called not only to spend their money to feed the hungry, but also to spend themselves, to pour out their lives in sacrificial service. That service cannot be a mere token. It must satisfy the needs of the oppressed. Isaiah also points out that those who serve receive the fruits of service: healing, answered prayer, guidance, personal provision, and joy.

Pray that our Gracious Father will teach us to spend ourselves on behalf of those who are desperately hungry both for bread and the Bread of Life.

*phew* .. since the massive challenges from the BLT  conference - i confess i've been failing most horridly when it comes to proactively sharing the only cure for death .. the depths of my passive hatred for the lost souls of humanity runs terribly deep >.<

. .. and still Father's longsuffering love with this callous, unloving child of HIs perseveres with me!!

[one +ive from these floods in Brisbane = free public transport for a week!]
to get cashout bonuses (for frontline missions work in the 10/40 window) at the nearest shopping centre . . . felt a compulsion to speak to someone - anyone - of The Good News of Jesus & call them to repent!

but, i confess i gave into my lazy, unloving flesh & sat there quietly on a bus where if we were to all die in a crash, perhaps the majority would go to an eternity of suffering for their unforgiven sins in hell :"(

... dumbfounds me!!! >.<
 
on the bus trip home, i sat down, looked around & was about to repeat my passive hatred of others on the bus again when couldn't stand it any longer .. so i got up & sat next to an asian-looking guy [Ben]
-- yes, i'm forever taking the easy option aren't i :S
 
conversation seemed to be getting nowhere, so i pulled out a gospel tract.
 
wrong move.
he seemed to be very anti-religious, denying Jesus & His truthfulness.
 
i could've lost my cool & argued ... :O thank God i didn't!
on reflection, i should've shared my story of His miraculous healing of me from my brain injury .. but he possibly could've been a hardened soul in darkness, set against the knowledge of The Truth & Light.
..then again, maybe he just hadn't had a clear presentation of the gospel?!
 
in any case, pray for mercy on Ben's soul -- to be tured from darkness to light, to broadcast how awesome & excellent is Jesus Christ, who he once despised!
 
i think i really need to stop being lazy  in evangelism by over-reliance on gospel tracts to
'do my job for me'.
*need* to get back into sharing The Good Nrews & calling sinners to repentance!

then Ben & Louie got on the bus .. two young impressionable guys.

... i don't know why i waited up until just before my stop before i approached them :"( do pray for  me, for His love to melt my cold, cold heart, to more urgently call sinners to repentance!

it's painfully necessary, this work Fathers' doing on me to expose the stubbornly dark corners of my heart .. i've never felt so disgustingly rotten to the core!!
i feel that there is still more painfully necessary revealing work to be done in me .. . i just really pray for grace to not be crushed by despair, discouragement or hopelessness! :'(

i may stay there just 3 days for the seminar alone or another ~2 weeks for a friends' wedding.


Pretty crazy that I'd go so far & stay so long for a wedding huh? :P

Maybe I shud just go for the seminar, pack light for 3 days to get the cheap fare, save $$ to invest more in ETERNITY than have the extra hassle of troubling others to stay with them for the 2 weeks until the wedding. :P

Please also know I'm greatly skeptical of seminars/courses/workshops after having attended many, both far & wide but noticing little deep, lasting life change. But that’s my fault, I'm sure!

AND

I HATE spending big bucks going to things for myself when I know it could be used to greatly advance God's Kingdom in the 10/40 window amongst those yet to hear Jesus' name.

.. For a loong time I've been 'stuck' in this way of thinking & deciding about where i go / how I spend God's money cos I've "wasted" so much of it in the past going to this that & the other thing :S .. I could have really twisted thinking in applying Matthew 6:33 & 28:18-20?!

(i.e. ~$300+ for the seminar + ~$100+ in flights + extra travel, food & accom [?]= could bless an entire unreached family /village in Asia WHO STILL WAIT TO HEAR THE GOSPEL OF JESUS!!


Or it could support my native missionary for ~9 months! :O

So I'm struggling to justify a 3 day seminar for myself (when I've already gone to MANY, this being the most expensive of them all!) that could seemingly go to much greater effective use for blessing OTHERS.

Yes, there is MUCH soul-work needing to be done in me, but I'm blessed far beyond than these unreached multitudes RIPE unto harvest!

.. Also, what do you think of this that a sister shared:


"We are commanded to love ourselves healthily first (not selfishly) if you read between the lines. Otherwise we will love others harshly and poorly because we are commanded to love others AS we love ourselves. Most of us read love others IN SPITE of yourselves.

What I have learnt through discipling others is they learn most from how you treat yourself subconsciously, more so than what you say. If you despise and deprive yourself, [which I confess, I am VERY guilty of!] you are sending out a terrible message, which is why many people don't think the gospel is GOOD news because many who believe it are in a worse state of internal deprivation and 'death' than many without it. Because they've understood His natural laws even if they don't understand His spiritual laws."


.. This may explain why I've felt so 'fake' in evangelising because I've been living in what seemed to be defeat / pretend "victory" for too long now :"(

Don’t we wish God’s direction came this clearly all the time! Though Moses was a reluctant servant of God, it was clear what the Almighty One wanted him to do. Sometimes God’s direction comes in subtle ways that we don’t expect or understand. From today’s reading, we learn about Earl Dix whom God directed through a series of circumstances that at first appeared to be misunderstandings. Earl was open to these events being God’s direction. In answer to Dix’s prayer, God provided him with the financial support he needed as a way of confirming his call to Africa.

Pray for a willing heart to obey God no matter what the circumstances.

Though I’m usually not one for making “new years’ resolutions”

(because I know almost certainly I’m gonna fail miserably at keeping them, just as I have always failed miserably at keeping any of my good intentioned promises & resolutions in the past :S)

. . . If I want anything from the coming year, my #1 prayer point is to love The Lord my God with ALL of my heart, ALL my soul, ALL my mind and ALL my strength.

* I’d continually come to Abba Yahweh in my thirst, abandoning my commitment to self-protection in how I relate / fail to relate to others!


* keep exposing ways in which I’m idolatrously committed to self-protection and help me abandon them!!!
