- i truly hope this doesn't come across as me being better than anyone else - i'm just a fellow traveller who often fumbles along & often learns the long & hard way!
after sleeping on the new phone plan i signed up for and thinking about how Matthew 6:33 applies in this situation; (paraphrased)
"Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met."
another verse that just came to mind that simplifies alot of our earthly lives:
Colossians 3:1-2
"So if you're serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ--that's where the action is. See things from his perspective."
:D PRAISE :D
:D giving clarity to my phone situation when i was just complicating things by focussing on earthly things rather than on Jesus & His Kingdom!
an outline of my thought process:
1. i'm only alive for a very short time.
2. the money that'd go towards this new phone could be heaps better invested to seeing The Gospel of Jesus Christ go to the mulitudes still waiting to hear His Name - $240 which could = 40,000 gospel tracts for them! see
http://www.gfa.org/rajus-heart-shows-christs-love
3. which is more worthwhile - investing in the eternal souls of people or a new gadget that'll quickly become obsolete over time?
4. knowing my uncanny skill of breaking / losing valuable things like phones, it'd only be a matter of time before this new phone would get broken / lost!
5. * i didn't really *need* a new phone. i've still got [mostly] functional 2nd-hand phones that i can use, although some need to be fixed.
however, if you or anyone you know has any old/ unwanted / working mobile phones they dont use or want, i'm always more than happy to pass them onto someone else to use them, though i think i might need to use them myself the way my current handsets keep being sporadically problematic!
.. so in the end i called up the phone company & told them i didn't need the new phone they'd smoothly talked me into getting & asked to be put on their cheapest plan ($9.90/month) which is $5.10 cheaper than the plan i've now been on for 10 years, plus i get 5x more included call credit!
:D giving me a way to resolve this phone issue that works out cheaper and gives me better value for money! ;)
:D teaching me this most timely lesson of my NEED TO WAIT ON HIM~!
:D giving me grace to live in the rality of these last days when we're called to live a life of wartime simplicity, and NOT leting myself be pressed into the mold of the world & its ways that tells me i should spoil myself, or i need to stay updated with the latest and greatest in techno-gadgets!
... this time i got to talk to Eric & Rose, and of course i got them to check out http://www.fathersloveletter.com/ (which is translated to many languages - perfect since most telephone customer service people are from all different parts of the world!
why not share this (or your own favorite evangelistic website) with those strangers Father brings you into contact with on the internet / phone etc?!
to Him be all glory who seeks & saves the lost!
:D the ways He's used the internet to communicate His gospel to the lost!
*PRAY*
* Angel, Michael, France, Eric & Rose be drawn [deeper] into Fathers' love & this would be highly contagious to all around them!!
* give me wisdom & love to use the new phone plan to the maximum to live in Fathers' love & share His love + live with wartime simplicity!! !
The Lord isn't slow to do what he promised, as some people think. Rather, he is patient for your sake. He doesn't want to destroy anyone but wants all people to have an opportunity to turn to him and change the way they think and act. --- 2 Peter 3:9
