pray for the unreached!

"Some Greeks.... came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. 'Sir,' they said, 'we would like to see Jesus.'" John 12:20
After performing all the miraculous signs that proved His identity, Jesus started toward Jerusalem. The crowds followed. The Pharisees said to one another, "Look how the whole world has gone after Him!" Then some Greeks came requesting to see Jesus. John's gospel reaches a dramatic moment: Jesus responded by saying that His hour had come. His glorification in death and resurrection would be the answer for these Greeks and others, both Jew and Gentile, wanting to see Him. He had come to draw all men to Himself, and now a representative world was ready and waiting.

Pray that the Savior will draw some to Himself from every tribe and language and people. Pray that we will help the peoples to "see Jesus!"

"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep." John 10:11
Few people, including the disciples before the Day of Pentecost, clearly understood the reasons behind Jesus' crucifixion. A major emphasis of Christ's ministry was to show the Jews that He came to redeem the despised Gentiles as well as the Jews. This passage in John 10 clearly points to Jesus' death for both the Jews and the Gentiles (v. 16).

Thank the Father that He has a shepherd's heart. Thank Him that we experience His love and care daily. Pray that the Holy Spirit will remind us each day to pray for those unreached peoples who still have no opportunity to become part of His flock. Fill our hearts with His love for them.

"Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes, and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." John 4:35
Jesus likened the spiritual responsiveness of the Samaritan woman and her community to fields ripe for immediate harvest by alert workers. These words to His disciples are still applicable for us today. Can we see? Are our eyes opened? Fields are ripe for the harvest. Surely today, in analyzing the responsiveness of our world to the gospel, in realizing that the numbers of evangelical Christians are growing at a faster rate than those of non-Christians, we must recognize the spiritual receptivity of hundreds upon hundreds of human societies. Are we eagerly looking for ripe harvests, or do they catch us unaware?

Pray that the Church's eyes will be open to see how to bring in the complete harvest.
