pray for the unreached!!

"Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." Luke 6:27b
What other "religious" leader could offer such a radical teaching? Jesus really was asking the humanly impossible! God the Father told Moses that there should be an "eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth," He was setting limits that would prevent an endless stream of retaliation. Now Jesus was saying to "do good," "bless" and "pray for" our enemies. Only the Holy Spirit can give us the strength to do these things! And only those who are following Christ have the power of the Holy Spirit. But this is this kind of radical obedience that draws the nations to Christ.

Pray that you will have the kind of obedience that sets you apart.

"Jesus answered them, 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." ' Luke 5:31
All of humanity falls into the category of "sinners" who need to repent. But a little more than half the world's population lives within people groups that have access to the Scriptures in their own language and/or a fellowship of believers. What about the other half, the other "sinners"? The first group has access to the life-saving gospel, and a relationship with our sin-forgiving Savior. The other half looks to rituals and religion to heal this mortal wound. Don't we owe them the gospel?

Pray for the gospel to quickly go to the peoples that still have no way to atone for their sins, and do not yet know the One who alone can forgive.

"Simon answered, 'Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because You say so, I will let down the nets." ' Luke 5:5
Can you relate to what Simon Peter was saying here? I'm sure that many missionaries can. There are times when it really doesn't seem that the fields are ripe for the harvest, but instead, we are wasting our time. Years may go by before someone working among an unreached people group might see visible fruit from their work. Experienced missionaries tell us that it sometimes takes more than 15 years to plant a church among an unreached people group! Sometimes the Lord is waiting for one more attempt or one more prayer before He begins to pour out His Spirit. Are you willing to let down the nets one more time?

Pray that missionaries among the unreached peoples will not grow weary, but will persevere.
"And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations." Mk. 13:10
Christians expect Christ, in response to His promise, to return to earth at any time. Yet our verse for today reminds us of the importance God places on obedience to first take the gospel to all people groups. There is a church community in practically every politically-defined country of the world. Praise God! Among these countries, however, are approximately 22,000 nations (people groups) of which about 10,000 still do not have a viable, indigenous, evangelizing Christ-centered movement! These are the world's unreached peoples.

Pray for the Heavenly Father to lead us as we take the gospel to these still unreached nations.

"My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations." Mark. 11:17
Returning to Jerusalem and entering the temple, Jesus began driving out those who were buying and selling there. In an act of righteous judgment, Jesus upset tables and benches and prevented anyone from carrying merchandise through the temple courts. Merchants had been using the fore court (a place set aside as a court of prayer for the Gentiles) for fraudulent activities. Jesus' action restored this court as a place where the Gentiles could worship according to God's original intention (1 Kings 8:43).
Pray that the Lord will open our eyes so that we may see how our ignorance and selfishness might keep other peoples from coming to Him.

"'The time has come,' He said. 'The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!'" Mk. 1:15
Jesus is announcing a new era. He is ushering in the Kingdom of God. Our response should be to repent and believe the good news in such a way that it leads to a new life that will draw others to Him. This is exactly what we are calling the unreached Hindus, Buddhists, animists and Muslims to do. Your prayers are a part of extending His Kingdom. What a joy and a privilege!

Pray for His Kingdom to extend into the hearts of the unreached nations!

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations." Matt. 28:19, 20
Jesus' words, spoken to His disciples following His resurrection, are the claims and commands of One who had proved His authority on earth-He had healed the sick, forgiven men's sins, and conquered death itself. Who else could He be than Lord over all mankind? Since He is the Lord, is there any other reasonable response than to become His faithful disciples? And if we do respond in faith, we must then call others to become His disciples as well.

Pray that we will recognize and submit to His loving rule by honoring His Name and obeying His command to make disciples of each of the world's unreached peoples.

"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." Matt. 24:14
Jesus pointed to the fact that the gospel will be preached to the whole world as a testimony to all nations. Along with other verses, this one is an indicator that points to the time of His coming at the end of the age. World evangelization surely is the bedrock purpose for which the Lord and His Church are working before He returns. If there was ever a truth to which all mankind will one day be exposed, it is the gospel of the kingdom. Can there possibly be a cause more worthy of our lives?

Pray that the Savior will show us as individuals and as bodies of believers how to participate with Him in the central plan and purpose of history.

"Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field." Matt. 9:38
If you have been using the GPD for any length of time, you will notice that we are constantly praying some variation of this prayer for many of the unreached people groups. By using this daily prayer guide for the nations, you are praying for Him to send out workers. But still, the workers are few. Could it be that He is calling some to the harvest field, and people are either not listening, or unwilling to go?

Pray that those God calls will have receptive hearts to His Kingdom work.
