pray for the unreached!!

"'I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.'" Matt. 8:10
Who had such great faith? A Roman (Gentile) centurion. How ironic was Jesus' discovery! One outside the Jewish nation, and isolated from the revelation Israel had received, had greater faith than those inside Israel. What made the difference? Many of the Jews were taking for granted God's Word to them. Though we today have access to the Bible in dozens of versions and a Christian message with the switch of a dial on radio or TV, these privileges are no assurance that Jesus is going to find faith among us. In fact, not only faith, but even the awareness of the purposes of God for the nations can disappear from our minds when we fail to obey what God commands.

Pray that the Father will teach us to obey!

"And do not think you can say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham." Matt. 3:9
John the Baptist was not the kind of man who minced words. After calling the crowd a "brood of vipers" (3:7), he went on to harshly scold them for thinking that their Jewish heritage was the source of their relationship with God. Isn't it easy to fall into the same trap today? We can proudly say to ourselves that our congregation or denomination has done such and such, forgetting that God will call each of us to give an account. No excuse will be accepted!

Pray for a renewed willingness to obey the Great Commission.
"This is what the Lord Almighty says: 'These people say, 'The time has not yet come for the Lord's house to be built.''" Haggai 1:2

A small company of Jews had returned to Judah from exile in Babylon. Initial efforts to rebuild the temple were frustrated by opposition from surrounding peoples. The people of God became too discouraged to do anything but just rebuild their homes. Haggai's message was, "God will honor us only if we put His concerns first!" What about your church? Is it putting God's kingdom first? What about its vision for the world? Does God want to use us the way He used Haggai to rebuild a mission vision long neglected?

Pray that the Lord will give us the courage, vision, and wisdom to be like Haggai, that we may call the Church to rebuild that vision which we have neglected for too long.
