"Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life" Rev. 22:17
Have you ever stopped to think about the cost of that "free gift" of the water of life? It cost nothing for us, but everything for our Lord. That is the real difference between Christianity and all other faiths. The water of life is free to every repentant sinner who will bow the knee to Jesus. How the unreached Muslims, Animists, Buddhists, and Hindus need to know this! But, before their hearts will open to this gospel, we must pray. As we begin to pray next month, why not recruit someone to join the army of pray-ers?
Father, help us to be faithful next month as we pray for those who need to depend on You for the water of life.
"On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit.... And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations" Rev. 22:2
The book of Revelation fittingly ties up all the loose ends unraveled in the book of Genesis. But there is great progress as well as restoration. God began with a beautiful garden; He closes the scene with a glorious city. He started with a tree of life; now we see an abundance of fruit-a new crop every month. "And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations." Those groups that have suffered ruin because of sin will find healing and wholeness because of the work of Jesus Christ and the ministry of those willing to "go into the world and proclaim the gospel to all creation."
Lord Jesus, the nations and peoples of the world are so broken and bruised by sin and hate. Bring healing, gracious Lord!

Let us imagine a large evangelical church closing its annual missionary conference with a celebration of worship around the Lord's table. After distributing the elements to the assembled congregation, the pastor asks, "Have all been served?" "No," says one member, "Over two thousand tribal groups have not even been invited yet." "There are three thousand Muslim groups who are not included," another says. From the balcony a member calls out, "One thousand Hindu groups are not yet represented!" Yet another responds, "Three hundred Chinese nations and eight hundred Buddhist groups have not had their chance either."
Dear Lord, use us as faithful witnesses to the ends of the earth so that no people will be excluded from the breaking of the bread.

"The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: 'The kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign for ever and ever'"
We live in a world in rebellion against its Creator. From the time of the fall of Adam and Eve, God's plan has been to quell the rebellion and once again establish His authority over all the earth. Jesus Himself said that the gates of hell will not be able to withstand this reconquest by His Church. Yet there are still about 10,000 people groups without church communities to proclaim and demonstrate Christ's kingdom within these societies. This is the challenge before us.
Pray that churches, students, and mission agencies will join hearts and hands as never before to see Christ's kingdom advance among the nations.

It is finished! In this scene John describes his vision of the final victory, when some from every people group will praise the Lord Jesus. This scene fulfills God's promise in Genesis 12:3 that through Abraham and his descendants all other families of the earth would receive the spiritual blessing that came through Jesus Christ. There are many causes and interests to which we can commit our lives. But the vision of Christ's global cause is one which is sure to succeed.
Dear Lord, how we long for the day when people from every nation, tribe, people, and language will bow before You and acknowledge You as Lord!

Missionary-author Don Richardson declares that at this point (as well as several others in Revelation) John "raids the Greek dictionary" to find synonyms for "people group." John wanted to emphasize that no people group is to be left out-all are included in Christ's provision of salvation. How determined Christ is to win back to Himself some from all the peoples of our earth! He loves them all. They are His by right of creation and by right of redemption.
Dear Jesus, give us a vision for the completed Body of Christ, so that our highest priority will be to plant Your Church among every people and nation on earth.

Many scholars have identified the "scroll" as the "title deed to rule the earth." By virtue of His death and resurrection, Jesus has already gained victory over the god of this world. How we rejoice in this victory! Now we must remember that missionary outreach to frontier people groups is an operation to consolidate the gains already won in previous battles. "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me," Jesus said in challenging His disciples. "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations."
Jesus, we acknowledge Your authority and heed Your command!

"See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut" Rev. 3:8
The open door is a familiar figure in New Testament writing. It pictures unhindered opportunity for the proclamation of the gospel. Today we often view opportunity in terms of "availability of visas" and absence of official opposition to the gospel. By contrast, generations of missionaries have seen open doors as "people groups without the gospel message" and "messengers willing to risk persecution and even death" to take the Word to them. They saw opportunity in terms of the power available to them through the Holy Spirit, who would guide them in ministry.
Dear God, give us eyes that will focus on the tremendous possibilities for sharing the good news of Christ's love with the world's peoples. We commit the "impossibilities" to You.

Water from both icy cold springs and hot springs flowed through a large stone aqueduct into the city of Laodicea. Unfortunately, by the time the water had made the long trip into the city, it was usually lukewarm. How disappointing! Christ likewise criticized His church at Laodicea for a tepid vacillation between total commitment to His Lordship and total abandonment to the beliefs and values of the world. If we are to make an all-out offensive to reclaim the final frontiers of the gospel for Jesus Christ, we must be wholeheartedly committed to His purposes, not giving merely lukewarm assent to a "missionary program."
Oh, Heavenly Father, enflame our hearts to see Christ's glory demonstrated among all the peoples of the earth!

"Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers, even though they are strangers to you" 3 Jn. 5
What a joy to help our friends as they go as missionaries to unreached people groups! Today a wonderful new opportunity has come to help some of the Third World missionaries reach out from their peoples and tribes to penetrate other groups. Will we be as generous with our encouragement and our prayers for these brothers and sisters who are strangers to us as we are to those of our own people group who are bearing the gospel? John commended Gaius for his unselfish ministry. Would he be able to commend us for the same thing?
Father, open our eyes to opportunities for us to minister to missionaries who are strangers to us as well as to those we know well.
"Snatch others from the fire and save them" Jude 23
How human it is for us to be concerned primarily with our own salvation. Our own welfare is a natural concern. But it is wrong to stop there. We must be concerned for the spiritual safety and security of others also. Remember God's challenge to Ezekiel: "If you warn them and they do not listen, that is their responsibility. If you do not warn them and they perish, I will hold you responsible" (Ezekiel 33:8-9, paraphrase That is a great challenge to us as we think of those who still have not heard the gospel!
Our Father, we want to be faithful to share Christ with the unreached peoples. But all too often we are afraid of rejection and scorn. Give us the same courage You gave to Ezekiel to warn others of the judgment awaiting those who reject Your grace.

"This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith" 1 Jn. 5:4
One of the first classes of U.S. Army missiles was given the name "Nike" from the Greek word for "overcomer." These weapons are swift and powerful in their ability to bring horrifying destruction. The church of Jesus Christ has its own "Nike missile" capable of swiftly and powerfully destroying all evil authority, all opposition to the rule of Jesus Christ. That weapon is our faith, expressed by our confidence in, dependence on and obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ. We must march forward victoriously in His mighty power to tear down enemy strongholds which have long resisted the good news of the gospel.
Pray that the entire body of Jesus Christ will join together in a massive, all-out attack on the powers of wickedness at work both in people groups with a fellowship and in those nations where the Church has yet to be established.
"Dear children, keep yourselves from idols" 1 Jn. 5:21
John, the elderly apostle, reveals his pastor's heart in his epistle. He is concerned with the sin of idolatry because he knows that God created each of us to love and worship Him only. If we do not love Him, we will love something less. Whatever it is that we love in place of God becomes god (an idol) to us. How can we maintain our love and devotion to God? According to Jesus Himself, it is by obeying His commands! One of these commands, often ignored, is to disciple the nations. As we are caught up in this great task, we are less likely to be tempted by things that could become idols to us.
Lord, help us catch the excitement and joy of being totally abandoned to Your will and Your cause. Keep our hearts from idols, we pray.

James 4:3
"When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures"
Do you ever wonder why some prayers seem to go unanswered? James suggests one reason: we often seek personal pleasures more than God's purposes. It is not wrong to pray for things we need-indeed, the Scriptures urge us to. But it is a wonderful experience to pray for something that is good and right and for which we gain no personal benefit. For example, we do know that God wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. His Word promises that all peoples will be represented before His throne in heaven.
Father, liberate us from self-centeredness. Teach us to pray!
"The Spirit of Christ in them...predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow" 1 Pet. 1:11
An important principle often observed in God's Word is the relationship between suffering and glory; the two appear to be inseparable. Peter's first epistle highlights this theme, and Paul elsewhere speaks of our "light, momentary affliction producing an eternal weight of glory." We want to help disciple all the nations. But we must understand that this will come only as many are willing to sacrifice and suffer. Frontier missionaries must go to new fields, and zealous laymen must send, pray and give of their funds. Oh the glory, when we see new believers joining the company of the redeemed!
Father, lead us through suffering into wonderful glory.
"Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul" 1 Pet. 2:11
Do we see ourselves as "aliens and strangers" in the world today, or do we find, as another author observed, that "this world is too much with us"? "Earthly-mindedness" is a serious spiritual malady. An excellent antidote is to continually resubmit our lives to God's eternal purpose to bring people from every nation to share in the marriage supper of the Lamb. Do you have a friend who constantly reminds you of things you already know? Do you find it difficult to respond graciously? Deep inside we, like Peter, all know that we often need reminders of truths we've heard before. For example, we know that God is concerned for the salvation of people from every nation (people group) in the world, but we need to be reminded of this priority each day. That is the purpose of the Frontier Fellowship. Many need to pray for the unreached peoples of the world. Do you encourage your friends to pray with you for these peoples?
Dear Lord, how easy it is to be caught up in our own affairs. Forgive us, and open our eyes to see the world as You do.
Jesus promised that His Church would assault the gates of hell and that those gates would fall. His Church is actively marching forward to conquer rebel territory and bring it into submission to the king of kings. Our battle is not physical-between men, but spiritual-within men's hearts and minds. And we are assured of victory because our champion, Jesus Christ, has defeated Satan in individual combat. Truly, the One who is in us is greater than the one who is in the world.
Lord Jesus, we acknowledge You as the victor over sin and Satan. Establish Your Church in every remaining unreached people.

Do you ever wonder why some prayers seem to go unanswered? James suggests one reason: we often seek personal pleasures more than God's purposes. It is not wrong to pray for things we need-indeed, the Scriptures urge us to. But it is a wonderful experience to pray for something that is good and right and for which we gain no personal benefit. For example, we do know that God wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. His Word promises that all peoples will be represented before His throne in heaven.
Father, liberate us from self-centeredness. Teach us to pray!
"The Spirit of Christ in them...predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow" 1 Pet. 1:11
An important principle often observed in God's Word is the relationship between suffering and glory; the two appear to be inseparable. Peter's first epistle highlights this theme, and Paul elsewhere speaks of our "light, momentary affliction producing an eternal weight of glory." We want to help disciple all the nations. But we must understand that this will come only as many are willing to sacrifice and suffer. Frontier missionaries must go to new fields, and zealous laymen must send, pray and give of their funds. Oh the glory, when we see new believers joining the company of the redeemed!
Father, lead us through suffering into wonderful glory.

Have you ever reflected on this mysterious admonition? What does Peter mean when he says we should speed (or hasten) that day? Is Peter possibly referring to Jesus' statement that "this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations" before the end will come (Matthew 24:14)? If so, then consider the glorious possibility: by committing our lives to bringing the gospel to those people groups still without a believing fellowship in their midst, we are helping to speed the return of Jesus Christ.
Dear Lord, "Thy kingdom come." Give strength to our hands as we seek to hasten the day of Your appearing.

Prayer is an essential part of God's plan to accomplish His will on earth. We cannot always understand just why and how prayer works. But Scripture assures us that prayer is necessary both to us and to the accomplishment of God's work in the world. Powerful, effective prayer has a goal (the revealed will of God) and a promise (the assurance of God When we pray in God's will according to God's promises, then our prayer is powerful and effective. We must remember that part of God's will is that we "make disciples of all nations." He has promised to be with us to the end of the age as we pursue this objective.
Dear Father, teach us how to effectively intercede for the peoples of the world, who long to know Your truth.

pray for us!
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us" Heb. 12:1
This verse follows the long description of those who by faith conquered and of those who by faith endured. All were faithful witnesses in their day, and all watch to see if we also will be faithful witnesses. About 10,000 people groups without a church still wait for us to take the Great Commission to them. Yet how easy to become encumbered with cares and pleasures and riches-things which can slow our race to a crawl.
Dear Lord, teach us to "throw off" the hindrances. We want to run!

God delights in His children who dream His dreams after Him. Are your dreams too small? Hundreds of years ago Francis Xavier urged his college companions, "Give up your small ambitions and come to India!"
O God, give us the eyes of faith to see both the joys of heaven and the opportunities of earth.

"Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance-now that He has died as a ransom to set them free" Heb. 9:15
The "new covenant" in Jesus' blood describes a precious relationship for each of us. This relationship reconciles us to God and gives us freedom and forgiveness of sins because of what the Lord Jesus has done for us. God's desire is that the whole earth would enter into this covenant relationship, and His Word promises us that individuals from every nation eventually will. Unfortunately, many of the earth's peoples have never been able to respond to God's offer of such a relationship because they have never heard and seen the good news in an understandable form.
Lord, convict us of the sin of taking our "covenant" relationship for granted. Open our hearts, our hands, our lives to the world's peoples.

pray for us!
"But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which He is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises" Heb. 8:6
High priests described in the Old Testament had to periodically offer gifts and sacrifices for the sins of the people, but Jesus offered Himself once for all. Now at the right hand of the "Majesty in heaven" (v. 1), He serves in the sanctuary set up by the Lord, not by man. Furthermore, the apostle Paul noted that God has given us the ministry of reconciliation and made us competent as ministers of the new covenant. We can proclaim Christ to the world's peoples with the knowledge that His promises are sure and His covenant secure.
Jesus, we thank You for Your wonderful promises and covenant. Find us faithful as ministers of this covenant.

In yesterday's reading we saw the significance of Melchizedek as the priest of God Most High. Today we read about Jesus Christ, our high priest, who has come "in the order of Melchizedek," yet "not on the basis of a regulation as to His ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life" (v. 16 Here is a priest who is "holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens" (v. 26 And He forever lives to intercede for all who will approach the Father through faith in the merit of Christ's death and resurrection.
Lord Jesus, how glad we are that You "save completely." Draw men and women from all nations to Yourself so that they, too, may know You as high priest.

"Just think how great he was: Even the patriarch Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder!" Heb. 7:4
After Abraham had returned from defeating four kings and rescuing his nephew Lot, he was met and blessed by Melchizedek, king of Salem and priest of God Most High. (See Genesis 14:17-20. Melchizedek means "king of righteousness;" king of Salem means "king of peace.") Abraham then returned the blessing by giving Melchizedek a tenth of everything that was taken from battle. The author of Hebrews declares that Jesus, our "king of righteousness" and "king of peace," is also our eternal priest "in the order of Melchizedek." Does He merit at least a tenth of all we possess? Jesus gave His all for us; dare we give anything less for Him?
Lord, help us to give You our all!

praise & pray for Jimmy (KOR)
- just realised i only seem to post more of my "success stories" which may give the illusion i'm much better an evangelist than i really am.
PLEASE NOTE! for every "success story" posted here, realise there were several opportunities i could've shared the gospel with people [on the bus / on the street etc] but didn't cos i was selfish & wilfully disobedient. :(
so please NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!!! put me on any pedestal, even if its a tiny li'l one ;)
met Jimmy @ English corner a few weeks ago, Father told me to give him a call & do lunch together so we did.
initially planned to have cheap Tuesday pizzas ($4.90/large pizza @ Dominos) but had so much food in our fridge -- what better way to be rid of it than to pack a few lunchboxes ? :) so went to his home instead .. the time we shared was mutually much appreciated :) it was wayyy different than previous meals shared with people outside their homes -- i should do this more!! cult members are onto a good thing inthis respect -- WHY do carriers of The Only Truth That Saves not get into peoples homes MORE?!
... sharing the gospel scary & hard ?. . . NO WAY!!! THIS IS THE BEST NEWS IN THE UNIVERSE!!!

* bring more Divine Appointments his way throughout his life to help open his blind eyes, unstop his deaf ears & enliven his dead heart to receive True Life!
* i stay sensitive to His Spirit in ALL THINGS: SEEKING Him, LISTENING to Him & OBEYING Him in conformity to Jesus' image for his glory!

met Jimmy @ English corner a few weeks ago, Father told me to give him a call & do lunch together so we did.
initially planned to have cheap Tuesday pizzas ($4.90/large pizza @ Dominos) but had so much food in our fridge -- what better way to be rid of it than to pack a few lunchboxes ? :) so went to his home instead .. the time we shared was mutually much appreciated :) it was wayyy different than previous meals shared with people outside their homes -- i should do this more!! cult members are onto a good thing inthis respect -- WHY do carriers of The Only Truth That Saves not get into peoples homes MORE?!
... sharing the gospel scary & hard ?. . . NO WAY!!! THIS IS THE BEST NEWS IN THE UNIVERSE!!!

:D Jesus seeks & saves the lost .. and chooses to use frail, weak, common vessels like you & me!
:D the opportunity to get to know Jimmy more & share the gospel with him!
:D giving Jimmy some understanding of the gospel as i shared!
*PRAY*
* Christ manifest His victory & preemimence over every obstacle hindering Jimmy from coming to Jesus in repentance & faith!
* reveal Christ as INFINITELY desirable & INFINITELY satisfying to Jimmy, bringing him to True Repentance & Faith before it's too late!
* we'd see Jimmy in heaven worshipping The Lamb because He's Worthy!! along with others there because he in turn passed on this gospel & didn't keep it to himself!
* have mercy on Jimmy, work supernaturally in his heart to forsake sin, follow Jesus, the Son of God in a life of faith! & not let him waste his life giving glory to any other than The One who made him & gave His life for him!
* bring more Divine Appointments his way throughout his life to help open his blind eyes, unstop his deaf ears & enliven his dead heart to receive True Life!
* i stay sensitive to His Spirit in ALL THINGS: SEEKING Him, LISTENING to Him & OBEYING Him in conformity to Jesus' image for his glory!

Reflect for a minute how much you have to be thankful for. Christ Himself entered on our behalf. He is the one who paid for all of our sins, past, present, and future. God's promise is certain, He cannot lie, because He is holy and righteous. We can walk in this assurance daily. There are many who attempt in vain to achieve these things through their own righteousness. Be thankful! But don't forget those for whom you prayed this month who still don't know these things.
Pray that the nations will crave fellowship with the only One who can pay for their sins.

praise & pray for Dongjun (KOR)
had him in my group on Tuesday, being quite "fresh" to Brisbane i should've got his phone #, but didn't. :(
prayed for another opportunity to meet him, & he was at conversation corner yesterday!
thank God :)
invited him to dinner with us afterwards, i urned my back & he was gone!! :(
we finished dinner, hanging around outside the bargain food court ($2.50 lunchboxes @ closing time! ;)
... guess who comes along? Dongjun!! :D
so this time i didn't waste any time & got him to put his phone # in my phone .. as he lived out my way (kinda) got on the bus with him [free trip! - God bless stuffed up ticket machines!!] & in the course of conversation things quite naturally (!!) turned to the gospel!
it felt like so long since i last really shared the gospel with anyone (2 days ago?! :p) ... but EVERYTIME i do, i'm reminded of every good thing we have in Christ .. TO SHARE WITH THOSE WHO ARE YET TO HAVE IT!!
