"God's Name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you." Romans 2:24
In this rebuke of the Jews for their religious inconsistency, Paul makes reference to Isaiah 52:5 and Ezekiel 36:21-22. It was an old problem. The Jews, as God's chosen people, had again and again violated the Law of God and lapsed into idolatry, immorality, and economic oppression. The nations watched, and seeing Israel's disobedience, blasphemed instead of praising and adoring the Lord's Name. Today, the Lord's Name is often blasphemed among many nations because of the behavior of Christians in the West. Our attitudes and our use of wealth often inhibit or even destroy our witness in the world.
Pray for purity in the Church so that the Name of the Lord will be praised among the nations.
