Ps. 144:3
Lord, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him? Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow"
Man is nothing! Nothing but a breath that lasts for a moment or a passing shadow. Furthermore, other parts of Scripture, especially the first chapter of Romans, tell of man's evil desires and sinful nature. Doesn't it cause God pain to constantly woo the unreached peoples, who are in rebellion against Him? Yes, indeed! But because of His love, His righteousness, and His holy character, God pursues unbelievers so that they may have abundant life just as we, His children do. In order to be righteous ambassadors of Christ, shouldn't we be doing all we can to draw the unreached to Christ?

Lord, we renew our commitment to pray for the unreached peoples this coming year.

after our 1st session on learning to share the gospel with the lost, we just hung around a dessert joint being typical cheapskate asians [ie not buying anything, its all WAYYY TOO overpriced!!] ... then a brother bumped into his unsaved friends, Bevan & Johnny. they went off to get slurpees, a few of us followed, & what happened was nothing short of a God-moment ;) i took out the $1,000,000 i had in my pocket after a failed ice-breaking Qn to start the night, gave it to Bevan "here, did you get one of these?" .. as he was reading through it i prayed.. God answered =D

then went through the whole gospel with Bevan, doing what Jesus did

The psalmist was deeply aware that God's redemptive acts on Israel's behalf were also played out on a stage before the nations. Israel, called to be a kingdom of priests, had the privilege and responsibility of interpreting these acts to the surrounding peoples. We who have come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord have the same privilege and responsibility, made greater by our knowledge of the completeness of Christ's redemptive work on the cross. What a delight to declare His acts to the nations so that they may respond with joy to their Master!

Father, open our lips to tell others of Your salvation and righteousness.

As we recall Jesus' birth this Christmas Day, we see Almighty God crossing the greatest barriers which separated Him from man. And in God's initiative to live among us we see the missionary dynamic necessary to reach unreached people groups. Jesus - the missionary Word of God - "became flesh" so that 33 years later He might die and decisively deal with the barrier of sin. The same Word which had created man became man, took on human flesh, and "lived for a while among us." It is now our task to cross other barriers (culture, language, religion) to the unreached peoples and proclaim the "Word" in person!

Father, as You sent Your Son, now send us.

Our hearts respond to this, "Only God can pay it! And He did !" We who know God in Jesus Christ rejoice that Jesus paid the ransom for our lives. Yet we must always remember that millions of other men and women have yet to enjoy such redemption or even the knowledge of how God has paid the price for their sin. The ransom for a single life is precious beyond measure. Jesus has made a way to God for all who believe and receive!

Pray that more laborers will go, saying, "Hear this! Listen, all you peoples!"

The Islamic militant Web sites entice these people, then they recruit them to join their violent cause. By reading these web sites, Muslim youth become convinced that many others have already won a place in Paradise by their "martyrdom," and they think, "I have to go too," reports a Saudi security analyst. Many are Saudi young men in their 20s, married and well educated.
Many are from the Qahtanite tribe. They predominate in Saudi Arabia, but also are found in Iran, Oman, other neighboring countries, and as far away as Morocco. A recent U.S. State Department report suggests such Web sites hail death in Iraq as the inspiration for a new generation of Islamic "martyrs." Such thinking is a perfect example of demonic delusions.

Pray that God will raise up a new generation of prayer warriors to pray urgently that the evil powers and principalities throughout this region will be broken by the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. May it come by the written page, in dreams, radio, films, and Christian web sites. Pray that it will open the minds and hearts of this deceived generation, showing them that Jesus Christ, the risen Savior, has come. It is He who welcomes all who put their trust in Him, securing a place for them in Paradise.-MH

"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth"
We need this exhortation to be still. We need assurance by His Word, in the stillness, that "I am God; I will be exalted." What encouragement is in this psalm-refuge, help, strength, His presence with us, and finally, peace and His exaltation among the nations! How easy it is for believers to remember the first part, and forget the second part. His matchless greatness is demonstrated by the fact that He will be exalted among the nations. Let us be still and put our trust in Him for the purpose of seeing His great and awesome Name glorified among the nations!

Dear Lord, burden our hearts for thousands of peoples still without a witness. Prepare the hearts of individuals in those people groups to hear and respond to Your Word. Send out laborers into this harvest.

I often go into large bookstores and spend around 15-30 minutes distributing tracts into certain books on the shelves, the magazine racks and the best-sellers/new releases tables. Because Living Waters has such a wide array of gospel tracts I can chose the right tract for the right book. For example, I put the Million Dollar Bill tracts in books in the money section, books by people like Donald Trump. I also put tracts into the Koran, and other popular Islam books (I usually use a simple, clear gospel tract such as "The Four Simple Laws" in other religion books), as well as other religions such as Hinduism, Buddhuism, Judaism, new age spirituality, magic books, etc... I believe this is a simple way to plant seeds of the gospel. Imagine someone who wants to learn how to make money opening their new book and finding a Million Dollar Bill! Then instead of learning how to make money that day, they learned about the real treasure, Jesus Christ! Or how about the person who is "seeking" some form of "spirituality" and instead God reaches them through a gospel tract in their "spiritual" book. There are many other examples and ways to use the many different Living Waters tracts in the bookstores. Be creative, plant seeds, pray for the people buying and looking at the books, and pray that the Lord will bring the harvest!

David proposed to build a house (a sanctuary) for God. God responded by promising to build a house (a lineage) for David, and David replied with an astonished "Amen!" Parents who love the Lord want their descendants to love the Lord and to serve Him. And yet, as the Abrahamic covenant (Genesis 12:2-3) reveals, God blesses us because He expects through us to bless the world. He loves us, but He also loves the world's peoples as well. What kind of father gives all his attention to only one of his many children? And what kind of father would allow the older, blessed son to callously ignore the cries of his other, hurting son?

O Lord, help us to be faithful to take it to those peoples who still have little or no opportunity to respond to Your offer of forgiveness and hope.

"Samuel said, 'Why do you consult me, now that the Lord has turned away from you and become your enemy? .... Because you did not obey the Lord...the Lord has done this to you today.'"
Saul was so desperate for advice that he bade a spirit medium call up Samuel from the dead. But Samuel reminded Saul that it was his own disobedience, not lack of advice, that had caused God to reject him. Remember that Saul's catastrophic disobedience had seemed to him to be merely incomplete obedience. God has also given us certain commands, and Christ's last command was the Great Commission. Many Christian leaders today are reaffirming the scriptural truth that unless we who are spiritually and materially blessed are more completely obedient in reaching the unreached peoples, God may take His hand of blessing from us, just as He did from Saul.

Forgive us, Lord, and give us joy as we learn to obey Your commands completely.

1 Sam. 20:23 "May the Lord make us keep our promises to each other, for He has witnessed them." Those at home never know just how much the missionaries overseas truly rely on their promises to pray. Even when they are sent out to work with a national church, missionaries still have problems of loneliness and culture shock. But when they go to an unreached people, they enter into situations where they are invading Satan's previously unchallenged territory. He will attack them in many ways beyond the expected culture shock. If those at home who promised to pray for them do not keep their promise, some of these missionaries may experience severe defeat in their personal lives or public ministries. But earnest, continual prayer can make the difference. Dear Lord, help us who stay to recognize how vital we are in the battle for the unreached. Teach us to pray!

1 Sam. 23:3

"Behold, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more, then, if we go to Keilah against the ranks of the Philistines?"

Good question! But God had clearly commanded David and his troops to go, and He had promised them victory if they obeyed, so they went...and inflicted "heavy losses" on the Philistine forces. We might likewise ask: Why leave home, where we are not always successful against Satan's forces, to go to some other land where Satan is even more firmly entrenched? The answer: because God has commanded us to go, and because He promises victory if we obey. Jesus told His followers to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18), and promised to be with them, and us, to the end of the age.

O Lord, may those in difficult ministries be especially aware of Your presence today. How glad we are that You are with them-and with us!

Goliath challenged the Israelites to a duel, defying the armies of the living God. But no Israelite warrior was willing to meet the challenge. David had experienced the Lord's protection in other difficult situations, and he was confident that the Lord would protect him as he volunteered to face Goliath. Today, we need more "Davids" in the frontier missions endeavor, men and women who recognize that the battle is not theirs, but the Lord's. We need people who will claim the victory that is already won through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Father, grant us courage to confront the enemy of our souls and to overcome our hesitancy and fear.

- was waiting for the next bus because the last bus didn't show. was tempted to go catch the other bus, which would mean i'd get home earlier [i was tired!] but due to laziness i stayed on & kept reading :P
then lo & behold, Mahir comes & sits beside me.. we get chatting, his bus comes, i hand him an Arabic chick tract 'This is your life'.
.. my bus eventually came & i wondered if i'd chosen to catch the other bus to get home earlier to pander to my tired body, i'd have never met Mahir, a precious soul who fears Judgment Day because 'he's not a good muslim'.
CASE IN POINT: tiredness is no excuse to miss a potential opportunity to share the gospel with a lost, precious soul Jesus died to save!

We know that we should pray. We know that we should pray for others as well as for ourselves. And when we fail to pray, we recognize the lack of God's blessings. But how often do we consider Samuel's point-that prayerlessness is a sin against God Himself? The living God invites us to commune with Him; to disregard His invitation is an affront to His goodness. The purpose of the Global Prayer Digest is to encourage one million Christians to pray daily for those thousands of peoples walled off from the good news of life in Christ Jesus.
