Haggai 1:2
"This is what the Lord Almighty says: 'These people say, The time has not yet come for the Lord's house to be built'"
A small company of Jews had returned to Judah from exile in Babylon. Initial efforts to rebuild the temple were frustrated by opposition from surrounding peoples. The people of God became too discouraged to do anything but just rebuild their homes. Haggai's message was, "God will honor us only if we put His concerns first!" What about your church? Is it putting God's kingdom first? What about its vision for the world? Does God want to use us the way He used Haggai to rebuild a mission vision long neglected?

pray: Lord, please give us the courage, vision and wisdom to be like Haggai, that we may call the Church to rebuild that vision which we have neglected for too long.

:D the many "stupid things" Kevin's done in his life trusting upon his own wisdom that has caused him to open up to His *need* for God!

:D giving Kevin the sense to see buddhism is foolish & hopeless!

:D he's been asking good Qns, wanting to know God!

:D bringing Kevin to see more worth believing in Jesus than believing in buddha!

:D patiently & gently teaching me who He is so I have THE BEST thing to share with kevin!

* cause Kevin to seek God with all his heart & disover His promise in Jeremiah 29:13 to be true indeed!

* water the seed that's been planted in Kevin, bring it to fruiful harvest to bring much glory to The Father!

* keep bringing many Divine Appointments his way that'll impact his eternal destiny!

* reveal Christ as The Only Way to God, INFINITELY desirable & INFINITELY satisfying to Kevin, bringing him to True Repentance & Faith before it's too late!

* we'd see Kevin in heaven worshiping The Lamb because He's Worthy!!

* have mercy on Kevin, work supernaturally in his heart to forsake sin, follow Jesus, the Son of God in a life of faith!

* have mercy on Kevin, not let him waste his life giving glory to any other than The One who made him & gave His life for him!!

Habakkuk eventually understood that God wanted all the peoples, all the nations, to see and understand His authority. God parted the sea, not because He was angry, but because He wanted those who didn't know Him to see His salvation and turn to Him. His chastisement of Israel was partially intended to show the nations the awesome power with which He would later come to redeem her. No matter what the situation in the world may be today, our future is glorious! Our responsibility in this great drama of life is to willingly bear witness of His glory to every nation!

pray: Lord, how we long for the day when Your glory will fill the earth!

Jonah 4:11
"But Nineveh has more than 120,000 people who cannot tell their right hand from their left.... Should I not be concerned about that great city?"
Jonah was a reluctant missionary, loathe to go to Nineveh and even less willing to reveal God's compassion for a city deep in ignorance and spiritual darkness. His success as the court prophet, national prejudice, and preoccupation with personal comfort combined to choke out any love for a people unlike his own. Jonah had more concern for a vine than he did for lost people. But is there not a little bit of Jonah in each of us? Don't the successes of home ministry, racial prejudice and comforts and conveniences beckon for our attention?

pray: Father, cause us to think and act in ways that reveal Your compassion for the world's great cities, home to millions of individuals in thousands of unreached people groups.

Amos 3:2

Because Israel was entrusted with great blessings, her mandate was equally great: to bless all the families of the earth. When the chosen nation rebelled in selfishness and idolatry, her punishment was correspondingly severe. But is it not the same for us? Jesus declared, "From everyone who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked" (Luke 12:48). We who know Jesus Christ and who have the means to take the blessings of the gospel to the ends of the earth are obligated by our opportunities to do so.

Gracious God, we thank You for our blessings, and we acknowledge the responsibility they place upon us. Keep us from the sins of selfishness and self-indulgence.

Joel 3:14
"Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision"
Joel's prophecy foresaw that God would summon the nations to the Valley of Jehoshaphat, there pronouncing judgment on the wicked but declaring refuge for His people. As the prophet looked out over the sea of humanity in the valley, he was vividly aware that the great and terrible day of judgment was imminent. This prophecy was a picture of today's world, in which vast multitudes hang in the balance of decision. Will we give each human society the valid opportunity to decide to follow Jesus? Will we offer the refuge of salvation to the nations on whom the living God will pronounce judgment so as to save them from it?

Dan. 10:13
"But the Prince of the Persian Kingdom resisted me 21 days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia."
This comment made by the angel of the Lord to Daniel gives us some insight into what happens when we pray. We know from this passage that the Lord responds to our prayers. In this case, he sent His angel to Daniel. But notice that the answer to this prayer was delayed because of the work of the enemy, the Prince of Persia. It may take much regular prayer before the Lord breaks through the spiritual darkness. Will you be one who prays until the Lord is victorious?

"As I looked, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. The court was seated, and the books were opened."
Daniel was given a glimpse of the end times, and in particular, as seen in these verses, of the Great White Throne judgment seat. (See also Revelation 20:11-15.) The dead will then stand before the Father's throne and be judged according to what they have done. What an awesome vision for Daniel to behold! As he continued to watch, the Son of Man was led into the Father's presence and "was given authority, glory, and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him" (7:14). How glorious and how comforting! God has not given us an impossible commission. It will be accomplished as we yield ourselves to Him.

pray:Lord, we thank You for this glimpse of the future. Hasten the day, when through us, some from every nation will sing Your praises.

What a note of assurance, of triumph, of victory! God's unchangeable kingdom will last forever. These words of certain victory should encourage and strengthen us in the task of world evangelization. We do not yet see the Kingdom in its glory and power, but the Kingdom is here. It is among us. It is growing, pulsating with power as God calls and fills his people with the power of His Spirit. It is growing as God thrusts his people into a worldwide harvest, calling those from every nation to share in the glory of eternal fellowship with the Heavenly King.

Dr. Ralph Winter has observed that throughout history when the people of God have failed to share the gospel with the peoples around them, He has often brought the peoples to the gospel-sometimes even with great force. Israel's idolatry and selfish failure to take the good news to their neighbors led to the siege of Jerusalem. Today's church has failed to take the gospel to all the peoples of the world, and so God has brought the peoples to the church's shores, most often not as military conquerors but as refugees, students, and businessmen. Are we willing to share with them our spiritual and material abundance?

pray: Father, help us to respond to wonderful opportunities for ministry to "newcomers" in our own communities.

Jer. 45:4, 5
"...'I will overthrow what I have built and uproot what I have planted... Should you then seek great things for yourself? Seek them not.'"
God's Word, when delegated to His people, powerfully influences the rise and fall of nations and kingdoms of the earth. God intends to "overthrow" and "uproot" as well as to "build" and "plant." Therefore, He admonishes us, as He did Jeremiah's scribe Baruch, to abandon a selfish ambition which is not only futile but is also irrelevant. It is nothing less than tragic when we chase personal aspirations to the ignorance or neglect of the clearly-revealed purposes of God. In light of what God is doing and wants to do among the nations, can we possibly justify seeking great things for ourselves? "Seek them not."

Is. 58:10

There is significant overlap between the 10,000 "unreached people groups" without a church in their midst and the "hungry half" of the world without adequate physical and material resources. Isaiah reminds us that the people of God are called not only to spend their money to feed the hungry, but also to spend themselves, to pour out their lives in sacrificial service. That service cannot be a mere token. It must "satisfy the needs" of the oppressed. Isaiah also points out that those who serve receive the fruits of service: healing, answered prayer, guidance, personal provision, and joy.

Gracious Father, teach us to "spend ourselves" on behalf of those who are desperately hungry both for bread and the Bread of Life

The book of Isaiah has been called "the Bible in miniature," and rightfully so, for its 66 chapters present the person, work, and commission of Christ in a manner representative of the 66 books of the Bible. Isaiah here portrays the heavenly banquet in which men and women from every nation will rejoice in the goodness of God. Though Christ's death has conquered the power of death for all who put their trust in Him, His return will banish the presence of death from the redeemed of every nation. How tenderly the Sovereign Lord will wipe away tears from faces upturned in joyful praise!

Pray: Wonderful Savior, we eagerly look forward to that day. Lead us on until we see You face-to-face!

Solomon's exhortation for us to share our blessings carries with it the reiteration of a major biblical theme: we receive when we give, we are blessed as we bless others, and we experience real life as we experience daily death to self and sin. How difficult it is for us to really believe the truth of such a paradox! How easy it is instead to clutch at our possessions and opportunities so that they won't slip through our fingers. Yet God honors the man or woman willing to take Him at His word. Jesus said, "Only those who throw away their lives for My sake and the gospel's will ever know what it means to really live" (Mark 8:35 LB).

If anyone could ever affirm the truth of this statement, it was the author, Solomon, King of Israel. He had it all-power, wealth, honor, glory, wisdom, and a large family! Yet he proclaimed it all worthless. Why? Solomon had forfeited the enjoyment of God's blessings by his disobedience. Even though he was used of God to bless the Queen of Sheba, Solomon encumbered God's plan to bless "all the families of the world" because of his sin of idolatry. With the channel of blessing diverted to personal pleasure, Solomon evaluated life as vain, empty, and futile. We, too, only enjoy God's gifts as we share them with others out of holiness and love.

Where God's Word and Christ's Church are not resident, the uninhibited forces of sin and selfishness ravage peoples and societies. But where messengers of good news have come to proclaim and demonstrate the way of love, and where men and women have congregated in believing fellowships, salt and light combat the decay and darkness.

i had a dream last night of confessing my failure to love & be good to my parents .. woke up knowing i most certainly had to ask for their forgiveness!

so i confessed my sin to my dad, of the many times & many ways i was not as good to him as he was to me, said sorry & asked for his forgiveness.

... his reply: "its alright"

"no it's not alright! i need you to forgive me!"

... "OK, I FORGIVE YOU :) I DON'T REMEMBER THOSE THINGS AT ALL"

i thought to myself, "then how stupid of me to still remember all my wrongs?!"

truly beyond a shadow of a doubt Papa knew what he was doing when He gave me my earthly papa =D a man who, in spite of his human failings, still reflects the glory of The Father =D

Israel's highest privilege was her stewardship of the Word of God. Yahweh revealed His commands and precepts, His laws and ordinances, His judgments and decrees to Jacob's descendants. He ordained the nation as a "kingdom of priests," responsible to mediate His Word to those around them. God entrusted no other nation with such a privilege and related responsibility. Today we are surrounded by numerous translations of the Bible. Do we recognize that this privilege carries with it the same awesome responsibility to bless the nations?
Pray:
Father, we have such abundant access to Your Word that we easily take it for granted. Give us a new compassion for those without the Scriptures and without the knowledge of Christ.
